My friend arrived this evening with a box of hair combed from her Rough Haired Collie dog and I couldn’t wait to get spinning it. It is the most beautiful shade of cream and spins so nicely. Thank you Esther!
In 1937/38 the Schools Collection was written by schoolchildren all over Ireland to record the folklore of Ireland. This extract was written about the area where I am living, and states that wool spinning was a skill no longer practised. Glad to be part of reviving our heritage.
Relaxing on a wet afternoon with some crochet, I recently made the throw in tunisian entrelac crochet using a 25mm hook and today I used up the leftover wool to make a large flower cushion.
